Koi Bole Ram Ram Koi Khudhaae

Peace, one and all…

I wanted to share a beautiful qawwal, sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.  The lyrics comes from a hymn of Guru Nanak and is found in the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scriptures.

Enjoy and may all that you do this day be blessed with goodness.

  1. It is the hymn of Kabir, and written in Holy book Guru Granth sahib jee
and it should not be sung as Kwali. and It is disrespect to sikh religion.

  2. Peace Singh,

Welcome to my online home. May God bless you always. I certainly intended no disrespect to the Sikh faith, which is a tradition of beauty and mercy. I found this rendition of these beautiful words on You Tube, and shared them because I found them profound.

God bless you and your family.

  3. There is no disrespect in singing the shabd (hymn) in any way one wishes. The Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, is set to musical raagas, but that does not mean a shabd cannot be sung otherwise. Also, this shabd is written by Guru Arjan Dev, the 5th Sikh Guru and the first to be martyred. This shabd is on page 885 of Guru Granth Sahib.

We need not bother about the superficial aspects. The only important thing is the message contained in the shabd.
