Not Every Dream

Peace, one and all…

Not every dream
can be remembered,
and not every word
can be spoken.

Not every moment
surrenders itself,
and not every poem
falls upon the waiting page.

Some things there are
that enter our world but rarely,
like some precious jewel
of impossible beauty.

And some things there are
that sojourn here but for the briefest moment,
as though they were merely a lantern,
illuminating some higher road.

Some moments are for our instruction.
They enter our hearts
and remain there,
solely for our enrichment.

And some moments arrive here
from some other realm entirely,
offering us naught but a fleeting taste,
a light upon the tongue and within the soul.

Beloved, not every dream
can be remembered,
not every word
can be spoken.
