Come into the Circle

Peace, one and all…

Come into the circle of lovers
and find herein a garden
beneath which
rivers flow.

Come into the circle of lovers.
Neither vain speech nor untruth
shall you hear,
just our gently ripening humanity.

Come into the circle of lovers
and be not afraid,
for here we share our burdens
and make light from them.

Come into the circle of lovers,
and in the space between moments
let us meet in fellowship
without thought of tomorrow.

The circle of lovers exists
wherever friends gather.
We need neither robe nor turban
to cover our human nakedness here.

Come into the circle of lovers.
Join us as we dance and whirl,
in this garden,
beneath which rivers flow.

  1. Salam Abdur Rahman,

The poetry chosen is very beautiful and uplifting. Thank you for that.

There is a Qawwali song called Khwaja mere Khwaja by composer and singer A R Rahman from the film called Jodhaa Akbar. It is really nice and in the song you can see an example of the Mevlavi whirling ritual.

You might like it, try it some time.

    Salam
