A Reading from the Adi Granth

Peace, one and all…

The following text is an excerpt from the Sikh holy scriptures, the Adi Granth.  I recently borrowed an anthology of Sikh scriptural readings from the library (as I know very little about Sikhism).  As I enjoyed the following passage, I thought I’d share it with you all.

‘The food of wisdom is dispensed by mercy,
The mystic music sounds in every heart.
God is the Lord who has complete control,
Beyond all riches and all magic powers.
Union and separation work in rhythm,
And all shall receive the fortune which is written.

All hail, all hail to Him,
The primal, untouched, unstarted, unchanging,
Throughout all ages the same!
(Adi Granth, Japji 29)

Ma’as salama,
Abdur Rahman
