Although it is not always understood in this day and age, the faith of Islam has given rise to a vast range of cultures, art forms and creativities. The peoples of Islam have included (and still do include) poets, musicians, artists, painters, sculpters and calligraphers. The aim of this page is simply to collect as many links to this vast world as possible, as a kind of celebration to the creative explosion that is Islam.

I put up a couple pages on my blog, about American and Bosnian Muslim musicians. I kind of got the idea from seeing all your pages, as I’d never really thought of using pages to do this kind of thing until I saw yours, I hope that’s ok.

i am a convert.. but i teach ballet.. which is ironic.. i love teaching kids dance movements.. but my husband said it is harram,, dancing is an art, an expression of oneself.. can you comment on this??

There are differences of opinion regarding music. Some see it as haram in and of itself, others see it as being more a question of how music is used and for what purpose.
As for dancing, I suppose it depends on the context, i.e. where and when it is happening. I am not a jurist (faqih), so if you have detailed questions, I’d advise to seek out a jurist and ask them

Next week I will be travelling to Granada and Seville Insh’allah. Does any one have any tips or advice, must sees etc, re people and/or places ?

Feel free to post wherever you wish, and to the extent that you wish.
As for your request, I’ve never been to those places myself so I can’t really offer any suggetions. I imagine you’ll want to visit the Alhambra palace (though that may not actually be near to where you are travelling).
At any rate, may Allah bless you on your journey. May it be an easy journey, with no hidden difficulties. But mostly, may it be a journey of love and blessing, and may Hu draw you ever closer to Him.

Salams and thank you for your good thoughts Abdur Rahman, we are staying very close to The Alhambra, so will visit it and the new Mosque and the Muslim sites in Seville, and hopefully The Mesquita in Cordoba.
