Peace, one and all…
‘Discuss not God openly in public; inside (your heart) pay obeisance and pray to God, and outside remain beneath a veil. In no circumstances, should you sell your knowledge of the Divine, nor should you question anyone. Fard! The mighty, radiant and glorious God will take account’

Peace Akash,
Indeed. I think so too. As I was reading this, it struck me that the poet seems to be referring to arrogantly speaking about God. Though I could be wrong too.

I believe this is parallel to the saying of Christ:
Do not cast your pearls before swine
Where swine are people who have no interest in spiritual things, and Pearls are the nuggets of Truth/ signs of God.
Sufis generally understand that proselytizing accomplishes nothing as it is really up to the inner states of the listener that determine their willingness to “hear about God”. And many on the Path are to experience darkness and ignorance before they can truly appreciate the Light of Truth.
Nevertheless, the state of Being of the lovers of God reflects in their thoughts and actions.

Salaams Diamond Spirit,
Welcome to my online home. Thank you for stopping by.
Yes. I agree with your analysis. I have real doubts about proselytising myself, for much the same reason. Moreover, preaching was not what drew me to Islam.
